The Search was her first appearance on the silver screen playing the role of Elisha. It felt like the title of the movie itself, Barsha came to screens after a long search. The movie became the biggest hit of 2010. Barsha became an overnight hit of the Bangladesh film industry. She didn't have to look back – she went onto appear on higher budgeted films with Ananta Jalil. After several requests, Barsha and Ananta agreed to sit with Showbiz team for a short interview during shooting the final scenes of “Most Welcome 2”. Ananta Jalil's interview has been published in our 35th issue. During the same interview, at first, Barsha was sitting behind us on a couch, resting. While I was asking questions to Ananta, many of the answers were coming from the back – I could tell that Barsha couldn't wait to join us. Although my initial plan was to take separate interviews, Ananta called her to join us. I was asking questions to both of them, back-and-forth. Ananta Jalil, the tough guy on Bangladeshi cinema didn't take time to answer any of my questions, but Barsha thought twice every time. I could tell, she is not just another actor with the right looks and curves, she's got the brains to take her career further. Along with their photo-shoot session and our interview, it was evident to me that they are madly in love with each other. Like we see in movies, they almost finish each other's sentences. So, here it is – the gist of our lighthearted conversation.
What kind of girl were you as a child?
I was a very simple girl, the quiet type. I wasn't very naughty and wasn't a flirt at all. What if you are offered with a role which has intimate scenes or has to wear revealing clothes or bikini? I have always been saying, for me, one thing is just plain impossible - to wear any revealing clothes, forget about bikini! What is the favourite part of your body? My curves – I mean my slender figure. So, what is your waist number? (Laughing) Let it be a secret. Forget the numbers game - just know that I love my figure and I try to maintain it sacredly. If you had to change anything of your body, through plastic surgery, what would you change? I don't feel I need to change anything. Many actors change their nose, eyes or teeth. I feel fortunate that what Allah has given me is enough. I don't need any change. If my acting managed to bring that much emotion out of you, I think I was successful what I did. It is not just you that I am hearing this from; many have appreciated my acting in that movie. When was the last time you lied? I can't remember, really! I didn't have to in the recent past. What kind of guys do you like? (Looking a bit hesitant having Ananta sitting beside her) Hmm… AJ style, Ananta Jalil style! I mean Ananta Jalil type of guys. But, I don't think there is another like him anywhere. That was too diplomatic, give me real answer! Ok, then! Someone handsome, with good status and behavior as a lover, as a husband, as a friend – there I go again, Ananta is the all square. So, I don't have to look away from home, Ananta is just the type of guy I like. You one clever cookie! So, tell me, before you knew Ananta many guys must've tried to take you out? (Again, looking a bit hesitant and shy, laughingly) Well, I share all my past with Ananta. I have no problem revealing something new in front of Ananta. I grew up in Sirajganj and when I was a senior at high school, I started receiving many love letters – some were anonymous and some were not. That's it, really! Oh, come on! Share a bit more please. No, really nothing more than that ever happened. Like I said, I was a very simple and quiet girl. I never let anything go any further. Since you're insisting, I once received one letter written in blood. I have no idea whether it was human blood or some animal blood. What was written on that letter? You know, “I love you” type things… I just threw it away. I was sure it was written with chicken blood. What if you were not an actress? What would you be? A Police Super! (Every one laughing while Ananta comments, “All the policemen would've been very happy to have you”). This is not something new – I have been saying this for a very long time. Even this morning for some reason I told Ananta that my dream was to be a Police Super. What scares you the most? Snakes! Even when I watch snakes on TV I get scared. There was an incident when I was young. Just outside the room I used to live in had a Hasna Hena (Night-blooming Jasmine) tree. You know the fragrance of the flowers at night attracts snakes. I was walking towards my room and noticed a large snake under the tree. I don't know if my phobia grew from that incident, but I am still petrified by snakes. Call me superstitious, but every time I dream about snakes, I find my next day to be a bad day. What annoys you the most? I hate self-gloating people. Those people who keep glorifying themselves really annoy me the most. What is the best gift you have ever received? My love, Ananta! We both say to each other, if one of us passes away the other one wouldn't be able to live long in sorrow. What is your favourite location for vacation? Spain, Barcelona. Let me tell you why; take Switzerland for example, it is a country so beautiful that it looks better than what you see on postcards or in TV. But after a few days, you will have nothing left to do in Switzerland. But Barcelona, you can go watch a football match, go to a disco, go shopping or you can go to the beach. Even the buildings look like they are crafted with gems – especially Barcelona at night is beyond dreams. You character in Nishwartha Bhalobasha made me hate you! Why did you agree to do such role? |
