Famed Australian product designer Marc Newson has collaborated with the Italian eyewear label Safilo on a capsule collection of glasses and sunglasses.
The creator of the iconic Lockheed Lounge chair, among many other design classics, unveiled the new exclusive line of eyewear styles at Salone del Mobile in Milan.
The glasses were created to celebrate 80 years of the brand, which was founded in Italy in 1934 and now makes eyewear for the biggest names in the fashion industry, including Celine, Dior, Gucci and Marc Jacobs.
The five brand new styles designed by Newson come in a limited run of 320 models and will go on sale at the end of April at Colette in Paris, Milan’s 10 Corso Como, Dover Street Market in London, and via Mr Porter.
Newson has previously worked with champagne house Dom Perignon, car company Ford (on the 021C concept car), as well as Swiss watch brand Jaeger Le-Coultre on the Atmos 561 Clock.
He is married to stylist Charlotte Stockdale, the former i-D fashion director, now atGarage magazine and a regular collaborator with Karl Lagerfeld at Fendi. – AFP Relaxnews
